Thank You Card

I made this card for the Paper Girls Challenge Blog Challenge #10.  The challenge was based off of this image:

My eyes went to both the colors and the flowers within the mosaic.  So, I punched out flowers in the 7 colors and arranged them in a grid.  I finished it up with some silver marker for the flower centers, silver ribbon, and a black and white tag with the sentiment.

Knit With Love

This week I used a bunch of challenges for a two page layout.  The pictures of are of my older two children days before their baby sister was born.  My MIL finished these sweaters for them while she was here awaiting the birth.  The left page I used the Let's Get Sketch challenge 17 sketch as well as the Camp-Friendzy challenge of "camoflauge" (three of the flowers are popped out).  The right page I used the ScrapbookSteals Turquoise 9 sketch as well as the Camp-Friendzy challenge of using smaller photos.

For paper, I used kraft and navy cardstock with MME Stella and Rose, Fine and Dandy (6x6) and Ooh La La for Him.  For embellishments, I used some handmade paper from a friend, Stampin Up brads, Webster's Pages trim, random ribbon (that i have had since 2001), and pieces from the MME kits.  Add a little brown ink, some thread (for the title) and Twinery Twine, and you have the pages below.

Lord of All Creation

 

This is my take on this week's Let's Get Sketchy sketch.  I used a picture my husband had taken (most likely before we even met) of Crater Lake.  A challenge over at Scrap-Friendzy was to use your favorite song title (or lyrics) on your layout.  When I originally thought about this challenge, I was stuck.  I knew my favorite songs were all Christian praise and worship songs.  I didn't know how I was going to use one of those in a layout.  Then I thought of this song.  I thought of God's creation, and I knew what I was going to do.  I knew we had pictures of Crater Lake - one of the most amazing places in the work.  The picture is perfect for the song - water, earth, and sky.

I used a piece of Authentique Journey for the background and pieces of MME Miss Caroline 6x6 pad for the rest of the paper.  I embellished with some Fancy Pants and Oriental Trading buttons, American Craft Thickers, Cosmo Cricket Mini Alphas, and Twinery Twine.  

It definitely isn't a layout I normally do, but I love it.  I think I will frame it and put it up somewhere in our house.

This i my take on the Let's Get Sketchy Challenge #15.  I used Bo Bunny Grease Monkey for this layout as well as some red cardstock.  For the title, I used AC Thickers and a piece of crafting wire.  On the "tags" at the bottom, I used some nuts and lock washers to add a little "umph" to them.  And the journalling is done on strips of the Bo Bunny paper topped with drywall mesh and then lines of text printed out.  It was a fun layout to do - using bits of things I found in our garage to add to the Grease Monkey line.

Take 12 May

I finally got my May take 12 page done.  I use the Let's Get Sketchy Challenge #6 for this one.  I also used a challenge in Scrap-Friendzy.  It is called a Smores challenge - texture for the graham crackers, two browns for the chocolate, a circle and some white for the marshmallow, and and some sticks to roast it all on.  With the texture in mind and bright colors in the photos, I went with some AC Amy Tangerine for this one.  I used some fabric paper as the background.  Then, I added more texture with the white circle.  I sprayed the white cardstock with water and then crinkled it up.  I ironed it a little to make it dryer and then just let it air dry.  Once it was completely dry, I put it under a phone book just to flatten it a bit.  For the stick part, I used two toothpicks that a trimmed a little.  Then, I put some washi tape (from WalMart - Studio G) on it.  I thought the flags would be fun since the layout includes some NA5CAR watching.  As a finishing touch, I cut a few of the hearts out of the background paper and popped them up (the cuts are under the white circle so no one will notice).  I like the tiny bit of pop this gives the page.

Here is my take on the Let's Get SketchyChallenge #14.  I don't love my choice of embellishments on the left side, but I don't know what to replace them with.  So, if you have any ideas, please let me know!

I used WRMK Out and About on this.  I liked the colors and "traveling" theme to go with the pictures.  The title is done with AC Thickers and Glitzy teeny alphas.

Water Fun

 

This is my take on the ScrapbookSteals MWM for this week (Turquoise 6).  The sketch is by one of my scrapping friends, Julie Koets.  Over at Scrap-Friendzy, there was a challenge to do pictures from the outdoors, so I thought I would scrap these pictures of my kids about a month ago.  I also use the Challenge at The Paper Girls Challenge Blog to use subway art.  The block at the bottom of the journalling I created from Tagxedo.  I may go over some of the words with pen, but right now we only have a B&W printer unfortunately.

I also pulled out my iRock for the first time.  It was kind of fun to use, except for the TINY rinestones I kept haveing to get right-side-up.  

Papers Used: Imaginese Toy Box and solid (random) cardstock.

Camp-Friendzy

Kerys shared another fun blog/forum this week, and I have decided to play along this summer with their Camp-Friendzy.  Each week they have challenges to complete.  Hopefully these challenges will get me "organized" with my scrapbooking this summer.  Challenges push me to create, and this summer I need a "place" to unwind with all of the other things going on.  So hopefully it will work.  Hopefully some of you will join me over there!
