Three More Layouts in the 50th Anniversary Album

This first layout is based off of SWAT Drill #14. 

The second one is based off of KiwiLaneDesign DT Doodle #32

And the last one is based off of Paper Bakery sketch #10.

Using one paper pack is definitely making these go fast!  Now to get the others done ASAP so it can be ready for their party!

Paper Secrets Sketch (Anniversary Album)

Yesterday I got another page done in my parent's anniversary album.  This time I used the Paper Secrets AUgust 1 sketch.  Again I used the Simple Stories Documented papers with MME for a little punch of color.

I don't have a true word embellishment yet since I don't know what pictures are going to be on the page, but I do have the ampersand brad :)

Ink It Up for Use It Tuesday!

I know you have them - uninked stamps in your stash WAITING to be used.  Well, the new Use It Tuesday challenge is just for you!  Pull out those un-inked stamps, and put the to use on any kind of project.  Mention the hoarded supplies and UIT, and then link up!  We can't wait to see what you create.

My parents' 50th anniversary is coming up, and my siblings asked me to make them an album.  I don't have all of the pictures yet, so I am just making pages without any of those details.  Then, I will add the photos, titles, and journalling later.  I bought a Simple Stories Documented paper pad at Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago just for this project.  I thought the simple monochromatic papers would make a good base.  Then I can add pops of color using items from my stash.  This layout is based off of KLD's DT Doodles #31 (I used scallops and tiny bracket templates for this one).  Other than the SS paper pad, I used a boarder strip from MME Oh La La that I have been hoarding for over a year.  The other pop of color is MME as well (I think it is Lime Twist) - cut using one of my 8in scallop templates.  As for the stamp - that square embellishment is made from clay I bought almost 2 years ago!  I bought it with the idea of making these embellishments, and I just never did!  So, I pulled out another MME product - a Stella and Rose stamp I hadn't used - and stamped it onto the clay.  Then I inked it before baking it.  This made the ink permanent (if you try inking after, it tends to rub off).  And guess what - the stamp is still technically uninked :)

Perfect Peridot

Amazingly I was able to get all 10 layouts done for the Peridot series.  All started out well with the first 6 done on time.  Then there was a week and a half of "vacation" followed by catching up from that and a sick kid.  Then it was a week long missions trip (with a sick kid) and another sick kid this weekend.  But, I made it.  Some still need journalling, but otherwise they are done :)

Last week over at Practical Scrappers, the Tuesday post was on using washi tape.  So, I created this layout using the sketch over on Brenda's blog for this month.  It also fits the requirements for Kerys's challenge (3 patterned papers, washi, and twine).  The photo is of my youngest in her first cloth diaper - when she is just under 3 days old.  I used Authentique Uncommon with some MME Indie Chic washi for the layout.

A Manly Layout!

With Fathers' Day this weekend in many parts of the world, the new challenge over at Use It Tuesday is all things masculine!  

Your job is to use something in your stash to make a masculine project.  It can be a card, altered item, layout, etc.  As long as it is masculine and included hoarded items, it counts!  Just make sure to mention Use It Tuesday in your post as well as your hoarded item(s).

I decided to make a layout this time around of my son, husband, and father-in-law.  I used some OLD WRMK Out and About papers and embellishments for this layout.  I have had them for at least 2 years, and I still have a ton!  I don't think I had touched them in almost a year, which is kind of sad because they are so fun.

 I used the current Paper Bakery sketch for this layout.  With all of the flags, it was easy to use a variety of papers.  I used some of the embellishments from the line as well as fussy cutting to decorate the page.

Share Everything Except Bad Ideas

So, I think I hit a challenge max with this one, but I LOVE how it turned out.  And since three of the challenges are "supposed" to be combined, I don't feel so bad about having 5 challenges complete with one layout.  It started with the sketch from ScrapbookSteals - Peridot 4.  When I saw the three photos in the sketch, I quickly decided on these photos of my kids sharing the tricycle.  All three of them get to enjoy playing with it at once - although probably in different positions than most would expect.  Then I thought about Kerys's challenge.  The layers were obvious in the sketch, so it was easy to add the stars and stamps. Since some of the papers I chose already had stars, it was even easier :)  Then it was time to think about the title, and Rochelle's word art challenge along with Scrap Your Story's font challenge worked perfectly together.  The Share Everything was just perfect, and of course with the five words, I would use 5 alphas probably anyways.  Last is Kristi's logo challenge.  I wasn't sure I was going to include it, but when I had the spot on the bottom left that need an embellishment, the Radio Flyer logo was a perfect fix.  

For the details:  Papers are all 6x6 from MME, WP, and CP.  I used stamps twice - for the stars (I think they are Imagenisce, but I am not 100% sure) that I fussy cut and the word cute (MME Collectable).  The alphas are Thickers, Silhouette cut, and MLS tiny alphas.  I finished off the pinwheel with a Oriental Trading button and some Twinery Twine.  I have decided I need a date stamp after this layout, and I will add that to the bottom left.

I have REALLY enjoyed the two terms I have served on the Use It Tuesday design team.  It is definitely a great team to work with, and I recommend anyone with stash they want to use to apply!

And now for a layout!

 A friend on the Practical Scrappers design team let me know that they might need another project with water colors Monday (for a post on Tuesday).  So, I got to work on Peridot 2 over at ScrapbookSteals with the plans of using a lot of water colors.  The strips on the layout made it easy to use lots of techniques.  On the bottom strip, I lightly watercolored the paper and then stamped with numbers - something I love.  On the second layer, I used texture paste and then water colored on top of that.  I just used my kids' Crayola water colors, and it came out so fun!

 On the third layer, I doodled using my Stampin Up water color pencils.  I drew little clouds and then muted the drawing with my water pen.  On the "top" layer I used some more stamps and my water color pencils.  Since I had a little more room at the top, I finished it off with some blue paper and twine.

The theme of the layout is based off a challenge by a friend to scrap myself.  I had to use my favorite color(s) - which are blues and purple - and something I love - the numbers.  I haven't don't the journalling yet, but it will be on the black tag that can pull out.  I think I am going to journal about being content with here I am.

The fabulous Kristy Lee challenged me to create a layout with the following "rules:"

That day my oldest lost her first tooth, and I decided photos from that would be perfect!  I knew I wanted to do the filmstrip for the 5 close-ups.  And I figured out the journalling and misting quickly.  But the rest sort of just mulled in my head for almost 2 weeks.  The colors, papers, etc weren't so easy since her outfit was just a white shirt (and black skirt that you can't see).  Last night I finally decided on black, white, and pink.  I got the film strip done, and then was stuck again on the papers to use.  This morning I decided to go with washi tape, but then I got stuck again thinking the layout was boring after getting the "basics" on.  So, I turned to some of my other favorite challenge sites - SWAT and TPGCB.  Over at SWAT, the challenge is a tic-tac-toe board.  Of the nie squares, I used 6 of then, but I only got one line (And that one is a little stretch).  I have 3 buttons (the little hearts below the title), stitching (at the top right corner of the photo), and 3 manufacturers in the washi (Downtown Tape, Freckled Fawn, and MME).  I also have doodling, which is also the challenge over at TPGCB, misting, and skip the pattern paper.

The best part of the challenge for me was creating a layout on y own without a sketch.  I so often use sketches, that I am starting to like the challenge of doing it on my own :)

So, scrapping mojo has been slightly lacking around here lately.  I will blame it on being busy for sure!  But, I was able to squeeze out this week's MWM over at ScrapbookSteals and incorporate one of their challenges  for NSD (#1 - "5").  The papters are a mix of AC Amy Tangerine, MME, and Authentique (Uncommon).  For the 5 things:
Word areas - Paper, title, journalling, and two groups of word stickers
Patterned Paper - Pink wood grain (MME), Grey text (A), Paper dolls (AC), Hot pink grid (AC), and pink with text circles (A).
Embellishments - Die cuts, button, brad, wahi, and stickers

Fishing

 I have had these pictures sitting on my desk for almost two weeks waiting to be scrapped.  Since the Paper Secrets deadline is looming, I forced myself to get it done today.  I used a variety of blue papers - MME, MLS, AC, and Recollections - as well as some washi (Studio G and Freckled Fawn).  Then I pulled out a variety of little embellishments - buttons, wood veneers (inked with blue ink), and brads - to make a "mess" on the right side like the sketch.  I wanted to add some journalling, so I thought a pocket would be perfect.  Then I got an even more fun idea - turn the pocket into a fish!  Luckily there was a simple origami tutorial online for making this (although the tutorial is meant for an even bigger fish and snacks).  I think it turned out cute with a brad for the eye.  Here is a close up:

Sunday Best

Here is my layout I did for the Artful Delight sketch challenge for April (excuse the not so great photo - a storm blew in making any outdoor photos impossible).  I used some homemade modeling paste for the first time on this.  I learned I need more practice!  I tried misting on top of it, but that became a mess because the ink took forever to dry.  So, I added another layer of modeling paste and "dressed it up" with some Doodle Bug hearts.  I used a variety of washis for the stripes, which was fun!  I turns out I have a lot of green and pink.  I then cut the butterflies out of scrap paper using my KLD template.

Mmm...Ice Cream

The Paper Bakery just started doing sketch challenges on their blog, so I decided to play along with their very first one!  The sketch was so fun to play with for sure!  I decided to scrap these pictures of my oldest and her eating her first ice cream cone.  We were on a missions trip, helping with a VBS on the Navajo Nation.  The place we went to dinner had free ice cream cones for the kids, and so didn't miss out (even though she was just over 1.5 yo).  Instead of getting her hands dirty, she put the cone on the table and ate it that way.  I am going to add journalling to the bottom right.  But because it will contain names and personal details, I left it off for now.

I used MLS Green for this layout.  I love the cute patterns, and the wood grain browns worked well with the burnt orange shirt I thought.  The brads are Doodle Bug, and the washi is a mx of MME and Downtown Tape.  The large alphas are AC Thickers, and the tiny ones are MLS.  I added some blue and pink thread to the wood grain strip to add the final bit of layer (and go to with the Scrap Your Story Challenge).

I decided I should actually SCRAP our wedding pictures.  Just after we got married, but put them in an album with the basic journalling, but there wasn't anything other than pictures and journalling.  So, I am now going to go through them and scrap the scanned copies.  I decided to start with the ones of the "boys" and the "girls" since those are first ones actually taken.  And the current Paper Secrets sketch was perfect for the men.  Since our wedding colors were navy and pink (with white), I decided to use those for the layouts.  I used some Authentique Genuine, Echo Park Times and Seasons with a tiny bit of MME Follow Your Heart and Indie Chic (washi).  The ribbon is twill WRMK Sew Ribbon, which I thought worked perfectly with the grey Thickers (since I couldn't find any navy alphas in the right size unfortunately).  Since this one was the guys, I decided to only use pink the washi tape, keeping the layout fairly manly I think.

Who Are You? (SS MWM Amber 7)

Here is a layout I did last week for ScrapbookSteals.  With the blog hop last weekend and then DT posts the last two days, I didn't get to blog it until today.

The photo is of my son and a friend the weekend they met.  This photo has such fun expressions on both boys' faces, that I thought it was perfect to scrap.  I used ME Alphabet Soup for this one, as I wanted some really "boy" papers, and the animals worked wellw ith the stuffed ones in the picture (and on their jammies).

I am entering this in the About a Boy challenge - Chevrons.

Can I Get Some Help - A LGS Reveal

I had fun doing this layout using MME Follow Your Heart plus little pieces of Stella and Rose and Lime Twist.  The photo is of my daughter trapped under two of her uncles. It was such a fun moment to capture on camera, so it was definitely worth a layout of its' own!

Puggle Parade - SS Amber 6

This is my take on the ScrapbookSteals Amber 6 MWM layout.  The pictures are missing since they contain so many kids in them.  I didn't want to post all of those kids' pictures on the web without their parents' permission.  The photos are of my son's AWANA Puggles class going on a musical parade one night.  When I add the photos, I am thinking about stitching or doodling some music notes along the left and right sides, mostly in the light yellow area.

Now that little Puggle guy - so easy yet so hard to make!  I decided to do a print and cut using a stock online photo and my Silhouette.  Designing and printing was super easy.  The hard part was the cut!  I only have an SD (not a Cameo), and the auto registration marks DO NOT work on the SD.  So, after trying a bazillion times, I emailed them and they helped me figure it out.  So, now I have a few extra copies of Puggle not cut out... But he is cute none the less, and I can hand cut them for other things probably (especially since I will have a Puggle next year too).

As for what I used on this layout - it is a mix for sure!  The light blue is AC Baby.  The light yellow is NS.  The dark blue and the arrow are out of MLS papers, and the other orangy yellow is MME.  The alphas are AC Thickers and HL Alphas.  And then there is Freckled Fawn, Target, and Walmart washi.  It was fun to mix so many things together for this one!

A Fun Tag Layout

One of my scrappy friends (Laurie) had a birthday sketch challenge on her blog.  She provided the sketch  and we were to use it as inspiration for a layout in honor of her birthday.  I barely got it done on Monday before the deadline!

The picture I chose to use is of my daughter and a cousin of her's playing with our toy firetruck.  I took inspiration from their jammies and the firetruck for the color scheme.  As for the papers I used, it is a huge mis!  I think there is EP, MME, CP, and LilyBee in there (plus the kraft).  And then there is some Freckled Fawn and MME washi, buttons, brads, and some scraps of ribbon and twine to finish it off.  It was a fun layout for sure!
