I had fun doing this layout using MME Follow Your Heart plus little pieces of Stella and Rose and Lime Twist. The photo is of my daughter trapped under two of her uncles. It was such a fun moment to capture on camera, so it was definitely worth a layout of its' own!
Here is the sketch it is based off of:
I am also entering this into two friends' challenges - Rochelle's colors and Kerys's recipe.

The Storyteller - A LGS Reveal
Time for another LGS reveal! This time we are adding a twist - you must use the color palette below as well as the sketch. Although the colors are Christmas-y, I know there are samples of using the colors in non-Christmas layouts over at the Let's Get Sketchy blog!
When I started this layout, I didn't know how Christmas-y I was going to make it. I chose the picture more for my daughter's red dress than because the story her great-granddad was reading was about the birth of Jesus. But, because I wanted to add some embellishments to the layout, I went ahead and made it a little more Christmas-y with the word elements.
Here is an (upside down) close up of some of the layers. I am really liking the layered look on single photo layouts these days!
I have also enjoyed making rosettes lately. I have been adding them to many projects! And with the score board I got a Christmas this last year, they are a cinch to make! I love the dimension they give the layout, and they are so easy to make out os scraps.
As for what I used on this layout, it is a mix for sure! Many of the papers are Crate Paper Peppermint, but I added in most MME 6x6 papers, as well as some Nikki Sivilis. The embellishments are a mix of the three as well.

Water You Doing? - A LGS Reveal
Well, with a few people leaving the LGS design team, I decided to "jump" over to the Team B side, which means I now do the 2nd and 4th week sketches. So today is my first Team B reveal! This week's sketch is by the amazing Bev Code.
I decided to change this into a single photo layout, using 1 vertical photo instead of two horizontal photos. I pulled out a variety of MLS papers, and went to town on this fun layout of my oldest.
I loved layering little strips from the different collections along with a tiny bit of washi.
I decided I needed a bigger flower than I had in any of the collections, so I cut one out of white cardstock using a KLD template. Then I stitched it with coordinating colors to give it some dimension and fun.
The title was the hardest part. With all of the colors on the layout, it was hard to find alphas that popped. I ended up outlining them with black ink, but they still don't pop that much...
Now it is your turn!

Let's Get Sketchy Birthday Blog Hop!
Let’s Get Sketchy is turning ONE and to celebrate we are having a Birthday Bash Blog hop. As you make your way along our hop to visit each of our DT blogs you will find lots of birthday inspired projects. If you have arrived here from Bev's blog welcome to the LGS blog hop!! If you have stumbled across this by chance and want to play along then you can head back to the Let's Get Sketchy site to start at the beginning and to start collecting your Birthday challenge words. These words should be bolded on each DT member’s pages.
This year a committed to making a birthday card for everyone in my family plus those needed for birthday parties, etc. So, for the blog hop, I got two more made!
| KLD DTDoodle 8.3 using Spooky Lane 2B |
| Unscripted Sketches #199 |
The second card I originally planned for my husband (whose birthday is this month), but I might save it for someone else, as it is slightly girly. It will probably depend on if I get better inspiration for a card for him in the next few weeks or not! I used some yellow Crate Paper and some orange and green Amy Tangerine paper as well as the solid blue cardstock for this one. The sun shape is from a KLD template (Nature 5T), and I topped it off with some washi flags and some twine. The washi isn't wanting to stay perfectly, so I might have to add a little glue to those...
Birthday Bash Challenge- To create any birthday inspired project from examples you see on the DT pages and upload here at LGS. If their project is a layout then do a lift of that page, if it’s a project of sorts then do that project. You can pick from ANY DT member’s blog project for the hop. The upload it to the Let's Get Sketchy blog when you are done!
Also as you hop along the way you will find clue words on each of the design team blogs. Once you have gathered all the words (you might want to put them in your SATCHEL)they will form a quote related to our birthday. Tell us that quote by emailing letsgetsketchy@gmail.com and get your name in the pot for an extra drawing.
The winner of the hop will be randomly selected and will win a nice bag of scrap goodies from Let's Get Sketchy. As always there are rules for playing!
Here are the rules for playing and winning:
1. You MUST be a follower of each LGS team members blog and leave a comment on each blog and;
2. You MUST also be a follower of the LGS blog.
Please make sure you visit the entire team today as some members are hosting additional blog challenges during the hop and offering their own extra goodies for you so the more you play the more chances you win!

I got two birthday cards done this weekend - one for a nephew turning 9 and one for my dad. The first one i used the S.W.A.T. sketch. The papers are solid cardstock and MME FunDay. I used the You are... sentiment inspired by ScrapbookSteals MCM.
The second card I used the Practical Scrappers February card sketch and some MME Sweater Weather (6x6). This is the one for my dad who loves to ski, etc.
And finally, this weekend is going to be an amazing blog hop! Let's Get Sketchy is celebrating its' first birthday! There will be lots of prizes and fun, so come back on Friday to see the fun!

learning - A LGS Reveal
This week's amazing sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy is by the amazing Bev Code. I love that it has a mix of hexagons, banners, and arrows!
I recently sorted my papers by color, and decided I had a TON of blue papers. So, I started this layout looking through my drawer with turquoise paper. I was immediately drawn to the gingham paper with the pink, blue, and green on it (the back side is a blue and white polka dot). Then I remembered Rochelle's color challenge for this month, and thought I could really make this work! I pulled out some of my MLS papers to go with the MME Hip Hooray paper and the dug out a piece of light pink NS paper to use for my hexagons. For the banner, I just used scraps of the hexagons - each triangle is about 1/6th of a hexagon - and stitched them together with twine.
For the arrows, I decided to try stamping them. I made an arrow template out of scrap cardstock, and then I used my MME border stamp and the three colors of ink to make the arrows. I topped them off with a piece of the gingham paper and some twine to bring it all together. The journalling is about what I have learned from my kids - how they have made me grow in the last 5+ years. The first ever S.W.A.T challenge made me dig deep and really think about myself.
For the embellishment cluster, I used some Crate Paper pieces mostly as well as a few other random pieces I could find. The title I cut using my Silhouette and the French script font.

Super Star - LGS Reveal
It is time for another fun sketch over at Let's Get Sketchy. This time, the sketch it by Brenshevia:
I decided to pull out a variety of MME papers for this one. There are pieces of Follow Your Heart, Ooh La La for Him, Indie Chic, Lime Twist, and a TINY bit of Stella and Rose in this layout. I took a lot of inspiration from the videos over at 2Peas, especially Shimelle's for this one.
Some close ups for the three embellishment clusters:

Thanks...but I would rather stay and Eeyore LGS Reveal
Time for another fun sketch at Let's Get Sketchy! This week's sketch is by our wonderful design team leader, Brenshevia.
I decided to scrap these pictures from 2008 of my oldest wearing our Pastor's Eeyore ears on Wednesday night at church. We were hanging out in his office waiting for everyone to arrive, and I decided to see how she liked them. It definitely made for some cute pictures!
For the layout, I used Fancy Pants Little Spout for the papers. I loved the mix of lighter colors that aren't too baby or girly. For the title, I used AC Thickers and MLS tiny alphas. The title comes from a line in one of the Winnie the Pooh movies that I found via the internet Then I finished off the page with a big button cluster. I loved pulling out and using all of the different buttons I next to hoard.
Stop by the LGS blog to see the other wonderful design team inspiration! And don't forget to play along :)

Almost 2 and ready to dig in! - A LGS Reveal
I decided it was about time to scrap these pictures from 2009 of my oldest with her cake for that year. It was about a week before her birthday - just before Grandma went home (her baby brother was born a few weeks before her birthday).
I pulled out my MME Hip Hooray (Girl) for this one. I decided to just go crazy with the layers on the right side and use as many of the scraps I had. I misted the white cardstock with some OA sprinklers to add some interest. Then I added the die cuts and popped them up for depth. The title is a mix of AC Thickers and MLS mini alphas. And I finished the page off with some washi tape - MME Indie Chic and Downton Tape.
Now it is time for you to create! You have until the end of the month to complete 3 layouts and be eligible for this month's drawing!

Picture Not Perfect - LGS December Week 5
December 2012 has five Mondays, so this week at Let's Get Sketchy we are doing a non-sketch challenge. This time, we are challenging you to use pictures that aren't perfect. Maybe someone's eyes are closed. Maybe the picture is blurry. Maybe there is something "funny" going on in the background. Pull out those pictures that have meaning to you but you are reluctant to scrap because they aren't "perfect." And then scrap them!
I pulled out a set of eight photos taken by my oldest over a year ago. She went on a picture taking spree right before and right after her baby sister was born (up until the point she broke my point and shoot camera...). I have been wanting to scrap some of these photos for a year, and this challenge pushed me over the edge to get it done!
I used mostly MLS papers from my Summer 2012 warehouse box for this layout, as well as some black and white cardstock. I had fun mixing and matching a few lines in this one, picking girly papers that I knew fit my very girly daughter. As has become a norm for me, I have hidden something in this layout - this time the journalling. I love hiding things in layouts these days because it lets me add more things to a single 12x12 layout.
I thought buttons would be a great finishing touch to this one. I pulled out some pink and yellow buttons from my collection to finish this off (as well as some MLS tiny alphas and AC Thickers).
The sketch is from ScrapbookSteals - Jade 3:

My Little Elves - LGS Revela!
It is time for another fun sketch from Let's Get Sketchy! This one has a strip of photos, perfect for scrapping a bunch of pictures from an event!
Last month I ordered the Nikki S winter box, and in it came this wonderful Gingerbread collection. It was perfect for scrapping these photos of my kids as the local Christmas village two years ago. Everything except the two brads and the twine are from this collection even, which made this layout a snap to put together.
Now it is time for you to play along! This month there will be four sketch challenges plus a bonus on the fifth Monday of the month. You have to complete three to be eligible for the great prize! I can't wait to see what you create!

Cousins - a LGS Reveal!
Its time for another Team A reveal at Let's Get Sketchy! Below is the sketch by Bev that we had to work with for this week's reveal. When I saw the square grid, I thought of my Authentique Uncommon papers almost immediately. So, I knew I wanted to do a girly layout for this one!
Then I stumbled across this picture of my daughter with her only girl cousin. I knew I had to scrapbook it as well as the story of the cousin's reaction to her birth. And of course the papers work perfectly for the layout all about how happy she was to have a girl cousin finally!
I started with the mat for the photo. I really wanted to try layering, and the Authentique papers and embellishments worked perfectly! And I even was able to hide some journalling :)
Then I cut out the banner from some scraps that I had. I laced them together with some Twinery black twine for the perfect little banner.
For the title, I inked some white AC Thickers. It is the same charcoal Colorbox chalk ink I used on all of the paper edges too.
I finished up with cutting some circles out of the paper and them matting them on black card stock.
Now it it time for you to play along! Use the sketch as inspiration, and then link it up to the Let's Get Sketchy blog! You have until the end of the month to complete three layouts and be eligible for the drawing! I can't wait to see what you create!
