The Paper Girls Challenge Blog Challenge #5 was a recipe.  This is the layout I came up with.

• 2 Journaling Cards Flowers cards on the bottom with the journaling around the edge
• 3  Different Ribbons/Trims/TwinePink and green with the butterflies and the twine on the photo
• 4 Stamped ImagesTwo butterflies and two flowers on the journaling cards

I used Jillibean Soup for this.  All of the papers and stamps came with the Blossom Soup kit I got from ScrapbookSteals (although a few items aren't officially Blossom Soup).  The title is made out of Authentique letters, Cosmo Cricut letters (tiny type), and American Crafts letters (and Thickers).

"Title" page.  Of course you can actually read this, but I blurred it because it is somewhat personal information.  It has the baby's name, delivery date, size, and expected due date on it.

This was a fun project.  I loved not having to worry about picking pictures and collections, which is normally what slows down my scrapping.  The hardest part was making each page unique and still use only 4x3 (or 3x4) photos.  I plan on giving it to her either tomorrow or Sunday. 

Good Luck Preventing Disappointment

Like I posted earlier, I submitted an application to be a Fresh Face Designer for Practical Scrappers.  Today I learned I didn't get picked.  But it is okay.  First, I won two Random.org drawings in the last 24 hours - a blog give-away from Cristine at One Scrappy Novice and the random winner of the PGCB Challenge #4.  Knowing I have two scrapping prizes coming my way definitely softens the blow.  But also I think it is for the best.  This summer is going to be busy.  I didn't know if I should apply or not because of that.  I will be teaching more than I have since my oldest was born, including two sections of a course I haven't taught in five years (luckily it is a course I can teach fairly easily).  I will also be in charge of our church's VBS this summer, so I will be busy planning that as well.  Add in a few family trips (to see extended family), and it could be a very crazy few months.  So, I will wait and apply again in August probably.  The fall should be a lot calmer for sure.  Actually, everything should calm down after mid-August.  The summer term will be over, VBS will be over, and my youngest's birthday will be over.  So, it will be back to life as normal.  Hopefully by then I will have more traffic on my blog, which I know is one thing they like to see.  And my scrapping can only improve, so that is always a positive.

Now off to get some more scrapping done - probably on my friend's mini album.

Another Journey Mini Album Page

I am running out of steam on the mini album.  But, I had enough to create a page WITHOUT a sketch. That isn't something I do too often, that is for sure.  Here is the page:

Amethyst 6 (and Opal 10)

Over a year ago we went on a train ride as a family.  I originally scrapped the photos my husband took, thinking those were the best ones we had.  Then later I found the ones his parents took - which included some photos I definitely wanted to scrap!  When I saw the chevrons on Amethyst 6, I knew I wanted to get those pictures scrapped since the original layout (Opal 10) also had chevrons.  I still had the "original" extra chevrons, so I cut those up and used them on this layout as well.  In order to make the layout a two-pager, I had to make some changes, but I like how it came out (I think).

More of the Journey Mini Album

I now have 12 pages done.  With how thick these 12 are, I think I will only make the album 20 pages long, meaning I only have 8 more to go.  And since I have been completing them in groups of four basically, that means I only have 2 more groups to go.  In this set, I have one that is ScrapbookSteals Amethyst 5 (second picture, bottom left), Paper Girls Challenge #4 (first picture, bottom right), and a bunch of older ScrapbookStelas MWM and Authentique monthly sketches.  Hopefully I will have the book done for her by Easter (which is in just over 2 weeks)

Amethyst 4

The wonderful Kristy Lee has an awesome sketch this week on ScrapbookSteals.  The sketch was PERFECT for my son's dedication photos, which I wanted to get scrapped before next weekend (since his baby sister will be dedicated then).

Here is the sketch and my take on it.

Other than the solid cardstock for the title, I only used MME papers for this layout.  The papers are from there lines I love to mix and match - Stella and Rose, Oh La La, and Fine and Dandy.  I added a little brown pigment ink around the edges and two eyelets (WRMK) to finish up the page.

Take 12 March!

So, for my March Take 12 layout, I found a great layout on Scrapbooks, etc. for three 3x4.5 photos.  So, I created 3 collages with 4 photos each using my trusted friend - Picasa.  Then I went to sketching out the layout in the Silhouette Design software, which is what I do for most layouts these days.  As I was sketching it, I decided to incorporate two other challenges - Use It Tuesday's green challenge and a challenge by a Facebook friend to so a monochromatic page.  I found 6 different green papers in my stash that worked together, and I put them all on kraft cardstock.

Journey Mini Album - First 4 Pages

A friend of mine recently lost a child between 16 and 20 weeks.  I decide to make her a mini album for the pictures she has of him (she did give birth to him just past 20 weeks, and a dear friend of hers took over 100 photos of him).  Since her favorite color is blue and the baby was a boy, I decided to use Authentique Journey for the album.  I am making 6x6 pages with mostly 3x4 photos (so she can print the pictures she wants easily as 2 per 4x6 print).  Here are the first four pages:

My plan is to just use the pieces from my Journey kit (bought from ScrapbookSteals with a few extra pieces for a scrapbooking store that went out of business), the few pieces of Authentique Mircale I won (die-cut pieces), solid cardstock, and the basic extras like buttons, ink, and twine.  That way the whole album will go together nicely.

Mixing the New and Old

The Practical Scrappers Challenge Me Tuesday for this week is to use both an old collection and a new collection on the same layout.  I decided to use my first Steal from Scrapbook Steals (American Crafts Baby - stolen July 2010) and my most recent prize winning - Loyalty from Authentique (I won their random drawing for the February sketch).  This two lines have almost identical blues, greens, and dark greyish browns in them.  It made using them together SO easy.  I used the second Amethyst 3 sketch (from ScrapbookSteals) for this layout.

The background (blue) paper, green check, and the darker grey/brown paper are from American Crafts. The paper in the stripes, the solid green, and the lighter of the grey/brown paper are from Authentique.  The embellishments (Thickers, letters, journalling tag, and button) are from American Crafts.  Other than that, I just used some brown ink (from Hobby Lobby) and my adhesive and pen to finish the page.
